For the homeless, South Suburban
PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) supplies shelter, meals, and hospitality to the homeless
in our community every Friday evening, during the winter months beginning in October ending in April from 7pm until 7am Saturday.
PADS is an ecumenical emergency shelter program, staffed by volunteers, and meets in Heaney Hall next door to the church.
We have the capacity to shelter up to 30 guests.
For those with addictions, Alcoholics
Anonymous (AA) meets in Heaney Hall every Wednesday at 7:00p.m.
Celebrate Recovery, a program for all of life's trials, difficulties,
hurts and habits meets every Monday evening at 7:00pm in the church.
To the stranger, Ministry of Hospitality
is a caring group of people who go out of their way to welcome visitors during worship, and pray for them. Additionally, they
send letters of welcome and bring a gift of homemade cookies to our first-time visitors that live in the area.
To those who are poor, "Piece Makers
Quilters" assemble quilts and lap robes for the Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Child
& Family Services, nursing homes, Oak Forest Hospital, and many other organizations. This group meets the first and third
Thursday of each month at 9:30a.m.
To those who are hungry,
Food Collection is organized by our congregation and given
to the Worth Food Pantry. They are served by our collections on the fourth Sunday of every month.
For those who are sick or grieving, Meal Ministry prepares and delivers meals to individual's or families during a time
of crisis: death in the immediate family, returning home from the hospital or nursing home, etc.
For those in need of prayer, Prayer Chain is a group
of Christians that pray for specific individuals upon request by the congregation.
Stephen Ministry Volunteers receive
50 hours of training in caring ministry, and are then assigned to work with individuals who are going through tough times
of stress, crisis, or discouragment. (the Stephen Ministry is inactive at this time.)
