"This we have to fear as the greatest and nearest danger, that Satan take from us the pure doctrine of faith, and bring into the Church again the doctrine of works and man's traditions. Wherefore, it is very necessary, that this doctrine be kept in continual practice and public exercise both of reading and hearing. . . . Wherefore, this doctrine can never be taught, urged, and repeated enough. If this doctrine be lost, then also the whole knowledge of truth, life, and salvation lost and gone. If this doctrine flourish, then all good things flourish, religion, the true service of God, the glory of God, the right knowledge of all things and all states of life." Martin Luther

image3.jpegGARDEN NEWS
Official garden kick-off is Saturday June 1st. Hope everyone will join us. (most likely at 9 a.m.) This year, will hopefully be a little bit more garden friendly in regard to the temperature. FYI - St. Patricks day is the day to begin seeds indoors for spring planting. Cold weather crops like lettuce, beets, radishes, cabbage, carrots can be started mid April - especially in the warmer raised beds.
New this year is a program aimed at harvesting extra veggies for the St. Blaze food pantry. Alot of cucumbers and tomatoes went bad just because they weren't picked. So, we will have flags that you can post by whatever veggies you don't mind sharing. Our official drop off day at the pantry will be Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. If you would like to join us in picking on those days, please drop me a line.
I hope you are all returning, and look forward to hearing from you - either yes or no. If you are returning, we ask that all garden waste be placed in the dumpster. There was a large amount of tomato waste left on the ground by the gate last year. If you have a bucket or two, you can dump it in the mini-compost pile in the south/east corner of the big garden. Thank you in advance for your interest. Kristie and Mike

“JESUS KNOWS YOUR WORTH”

EVANGELIZING THE COMMUNITY OF WORTH

In every community there is a place you see, pass by, even make a glance toward and for years go on noticing it there, but not sure what roll this place plays. Well, Worth has one of those shining stars, St. Mark Lutheran Church. I was invited there a little more than two years ago. Now I find myself returning every Sunday for services. What I have found at St. Mark is a family of people who really care, go the distance and always put others first ahead of them-selves.

Times are bad and people don’t know what to do or were to go. They are losing their homes, jobs,  and are left alone sick, cold, hungry and just plan afraid.

St. Mark has started an outreach program to reach the people in the Village of Worth. They hope one day to extend this act of kindness to other communities.

Fourteen members of St Mark have begun to walk door to door to extend a hand of hope and faith. They have knocked on a least 1,000 doors now and have many more to go. The walkers have met with great people and were asked to pray with many of those they have talked to, bringing a glimmer of hope to those in need.

So, if you are able to receive one of the knocks on the door, remember they are people meant for you. Open the door and it will change your life, warm your heart and show you that there are people who care.  All through Gods amazing grace.
